The End of Bee

We had parked Bee in the Woods in the Fall in case we or Adam wanted to visit the Woods. Jan's sis Jerri was coming for a couple days and we wanted B for a bedroom so I drove to the Woods for B on August 15.

This is what I found:

The table covered in green mold,
as was every interior surface.

In the morning I hitched up and drove home. Once there we got out a ladder and this is what we found:

Holes in the vinyl roofing.
Don't know what caused them,
critters or falling tree branches.

So we examined the interior and spotted water damage in the right front and right rear corners. We removed sections of panelling and found damage and soaked insulation. Cleaned up everything and ran the dehumidifier for a week but the place still smelled of mold. Jan finally thought to call Allstate and they sent an adjustor who condemned Bee as a total loss.

On January 23 a truck towed her away and that was that:

Bye, Bye, Bee. You were a home on wheels for many, many nights and travelled many, many thousands of miles.
That chapter of our lives is now finished.

  1. Sad to see her go Lew! Water incursion is the fear of every RVer and we have all had it at one time or another. I have always been lucky enough to discover and stop it early but it doesn't take long to cause a lot of damage.

  2. Manufacturers need to find a fix unless of course it is built in obsolescence?
