Trees and Oceans

We left early in the morning with our sore muscles, bound to do the next walk before leaving Mount Rainier.  The walk of the Patriarchs.  Seems that much of this trip is going to be about trees.  We loved the walk.  We loved the big trees.
This is Douglas Fir tree twins that are over a 1000 years old.
This is an old cedar.  I think its the oldest in Mt. Rainier.  It sure was a neat walk.
The road to Paradise was closed for construction so we decided to get traveling since there was more smoke!  The West is burning if you haven't heard.  We decided to keep going until we either hit the Pacific or the smoke ended...welll.....
You got it..thats the Pacific.  We stayed at a Coast2Coast campground ($10.00) and we could see Marco from the Ocean and the Ocean from Marco.

After a night on the beach we drove toward Olympic National Park where we saw really BIG TREES (largest cedar in the world), along with the start of a temperate rain forest.
I can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring.  What an adventure we are having.  Tonight we are at Port Angeles (Passport America $14.00) to get ready for a number of days in the Park campgrounds.  I'll post when we get back to where we can upload photos.

  2. There are lots of really big funky looking trees in this part of the Land. Wish you were here so we could take a walk together in these Woods. G'ma sez in the Hoh Rainforest we should see Banana Slugs....which grow to be 6-8 inches long.

That tree is soooo old. Imagine how different the world (and people) were 1000 years ago!
