A New Chapter Begins: Travels with Raindrop

We had not had a working RV for almost two years and were feeling the loss, sooooo ..... Jan started watching RV dealer websites for a suitable small travel trailer. We even looked at one in November but it was sold and the dealer had no idea when he would have another on hand. In this time of Pandemic people see RVs as a safe way to travel (carrying your kitchen, bedroom and bathroom right with you) and everything sells quickly.

Then on the last day of March the dealer in Rutland listed on his website a 15-footer as being available. So the next morning we took off and lo-and-behold they did indeed have one for sale, a Braxton Creek Bushwhacker Plus 15FK for $12500. We wrote a check on the spot. Backstory: He received eight units from BC and all were pre-sold. The customer's financing fell through so he listed it on his website. We grabbed.

"It's ours!!"
(And NOT an April fools joke)
Built in Shipshewana, In.

Back at home we considered our position and decided we really needed to update from our 2013 Ford Escape with 125K mi on it so we bought a 2019 Escape with tow package. It was imported from Nova Scotia with 9600mi on the odometer. This car has most of the toys and we love and use most of them from heated seats to backup camera to in-dash GPS to electric seats and mirrors with memory.

So on April 9 we drove to Rutland and hitched up.

And took off for home.
What a pretty sight this new rig makes.
AND it tows beautifully!
Lew worried about
growing older and towing
and wanted the easiest possible tow
that the three of us could "live" in.
There is a 17 ft version of this TT that is 500# heavier
...... but the dealer had just this 15 footer so the decision was simple.

  1. Great setup! Smaller is nicer and you can do so much more. Where did you get the back rests you have on the bed? Those are very cool and look comfortable as well.

    1. Amazon has them. They aren't cheap but they are worth it.

  2. Very nice purchase you guys! Freedom without the stress of a bigger rig. I have actually been thinking about something like this for myself. Enjoy it!
